Fantastic Four Vol.1 #3

This is a momentous issue, first it's the first 12 cent comic in the series and the cover gives us the insight of the introduction of the Fantasti-Car and formal costumes.

The story starts as The Fantastic Four in their civilian identities attend a magic show. The Magician, known as The Miracle Man notices these four individuals and tells the entire audience that The Fantastic Four are in attendance, by naming their real name and their associated hero name.

So I guess their identities are common knowledge? I didn't know that.

The Miracle Man tells his audience that The Fantastic Four cannot match his amazing powers, and mock them. Of course, this triggers The Thing into an outrage,as the other three members of The Fantastic Four hold The Thing back. The Miracle Man challenges The Thing to a test of strength. The Miracle Man has two giant tree trunks and ask The Thing to pick one. The Miracle Man tells The Thing to shatter the tree trunk. It takes The Thing several seconds but accomplishes the task. The Miracle Man holds up one finger, and slices the trunk instantly. The Thing claims it's a trick and that no one is that powerful. The Miracle Man calls The Thing a fool and tells him that even his immense strength can't harm him. The Thing just chomping at the bit to get a piece of him punches him with all his might.

The Miracle Man is unfazed which infuriates The Thing even further where once again the other three have to restrain him. The Miracle Man ends his performance and walks off the stage.

The Fantastic Four make their way to the Fantasticar,

So not formal introduction to the their new vehicle, and also  bit of inconsistency here, the cover shows Fantasti-Car as the panel refers to Fantasticar.

Mr. Fantastic tells the others that it is a good thing that The Miracle Man isn't a criminal, because he might be the only one they could not defeat. At that same time The Miracle Man is backstage and with the ease of his triumphs that night decides it is time to reveal himself to the world. The Miracle Man needs something ominous so that everyone will know they are powerless against him.  He decides to bring a monstrous statue to life to do his bidding.

As The Fantastic Four land the Fantasticar on the roof of their Fantastic Four Headquarters we are given an inside look of what that headquarters contain.

I wonder if this is The Baxter building?
As The Fantastic Four settle in for the night, Johnny Storm turns of the TV to see what's going on. They are televising the Premiere of "The Monster From Mars" at a New York Theater. While Johnny & Reed are glued to the TV set, Susan Storm enters the room in a brand new outfit.
This is the first instance of unified costumes for The Fantastic Four.

She made one for each member, she feels they should look like a team.

There is even a panel showing The Thing with some sort of cowl or helmet. Hmm, fairly certain what is referred to in regards to Dior is a fashion designer?

Copilot - In the 1960's what is Dior?

In the 1960s, Dior was a prominent fashion house known for its haute couture designs. After the death of Christian Dior in 1957, Yves Saint Laurent took over as the head designer. He brought a youthful and modern touch to the brand, incorporating influences from street fashion and the beatnik movement. During this period, Dior continued to produce elegant and innovative designs, including the introduction of leather jackets as haute couture pieces.

The 1960s also saw the creation of many iconic Dior pieces, such as the A-line dresses and the use of bold colors and patterns. The brand maintained its reputation for luxury and sophistication, appealing to fashion-forward individuals around the world.

As Reed likes the new look, Ben isn't so keen, and Johnny still watching TV see The Miracle Man in the crowd. In an instant The Miracle Man is seen making a hand gesture and the gigantic Monster comes to life! The police try and stop the gigantic monster but they are no match for it, When they fire on it with a bazooka the creature disappears.

Since when do the Police carry bazookas?

The Human Torch is convinced that The Miracle Man is behind all of this. The Fantastic Four decide he must be stopped.

The Fantastic Four thinks it is best to warn the commissioner, but he already knows since he has been sent a note. While on the phone with Reed, the commissioner tell Reed, you four do what you need to do to stop The Miracle Man.

The Fantastic Four split up, each one in a section of The Fantasticar which separates into four pieces.

As the gigantic monster grabs over a million dollars worth of gems from a nearby jewelry store, Mr. Fantastic springs into action.  Mr. Fantastic stretches his entire body between two high buildings weaving in and out of windows fashioning himself into a gigantic net. Mr. Fantastic catches the gigantic beast. The Miracle Man sees Mr. Fantastic and tossed a brick at him and causes him to lose his hold on the beast.

Minutes later the gigantic monster is seen picking up the military's atomic tank. The Human Torch is nearby and ignites into a fiery figure and allows the gigantic monster to grab him.

The Thing and The Invisible Girl are traveling via their sections of The Fantasticar together as they both catch sight of the gigantic monster taking hold of The Human Torch. The Thing tells The Invisible Girl to stay hidden and he rips off his helmet and costume top as he feels restricted and runs to deal with the beast.

With the gigantic beast firmly holding The Human Torch, The Human Torch turns up the heat. The heat is so intense it disintegrates it to nothing but wood and plastic, and wasn't real at all. So what made him move The Human Torch thought. At that instant The Miracle Man fires a chemical foam at The Human Torch and that extinguishes his flames and falls to the ground.
The Thing makes a dash for The Miracle Man, but making a hand gesture opens the ground beneath him and causes The Thing to sink into the ground. Observing the event, The Invisible Girl tells The Thing to stay put and now it's her turn to tackle The Miracle Man. As The Miracle Man drives off in the atomic tank, The Invisible Girl jumps aboard in secret.

The remaining members of The Fantastic Four wait for The Invisible Girl's signal. As they wait The Thing flashes back to the fateful voyage that transformed them from normal humans to The Fantastic Four. Mr. Fantastic explains they have been given a gift to help mankind. Gift? The Thing doesn't look at it that way. The rays made him a hideous monster, a gruesome 'thing'.

Mr. Fantastic tells The Thing you reverted back to human once, maybe it will remain longer next time. This doesn't appease The Thing, he wants to have women, like Susan Storm find him attractive. The Human Torch tells The Thing, she would never good for a guy like him, and the two start to fight. The Human Torch has had enough and storms out. The Thing puts everything behind him and turns back to Mr. Fantastic, asking why The Invisible Girl hasn't signalled yet.

At that moment the Invisible Girl has followed The Miracle Man to a junk yard where he intends to hide the atomic tank so it cannot be found. While see is invisible, a junkyard dog senses her and The Miracle Man commands her to become visible and to signal the remaining members of The Fantastic Four and she obeys in a trance like state.
